‘Religious’ treasure hunter arrested

The Uda Maluwa Police Post of the Sri Maha Bodhi, on 02 February, arrested a person who tried to enter the Pahala Maluwa with gunpowder and a fuse.The suspect is a 57-year-old resident of Thalgaswala, Galle.

The police found 32 grams of gunpowder and a 57 centimeter long fuse when they checked his bag.

The suspect has revealed that he was on his way to extract a hidden treasure and that his associates had informed him that the road leading to the treasure had flooded. The suspect had then arrived at Sri Maha Bodhi to invoke blessings.
