Rathana Thera does not turn up at inquiry

Disappearance of AJBP Gen. Secy.

Former MP and a member of the Ape Jana Bala Pakshaya (AJBP) Ven. Aturaliye Rathana Thera yesterday didn’t turn up at the office of Colombo DIG, who is investigating the disappearance of AJBP secretary, Ven. Vedinigama Wimalatissa Thera.

The investigation into the Thera’s disappearance after the August 05 election, commenced on Saturday at the Colombo DIG ‘s office. Later in the day, a team of policemen led by the SSP – Colombo arrived at Sadaham Sevana, the temple, where Rathana thera resides, he was not there.

The SSP contacted Rathana Thera via telephone and the latter agreed to visit the office of DIG – Colombo on Sunday morning. Although Ven. Hunupitiye Chandrasiri Tthera, the coordinating secretary of Wimalatissa Thera had arrived, Rathana Thera did not come. Chandrasiri Thera speaking to the media said that Rathana thera would arrive later and give a statement.
