Rathana Thera appointed NL MP

The Ape Jana Bala Pakshaya (AJBP) has appointed Ven. Aturaliye Rathana Thera as its National List MP. The Elections Commission has issued a gazette signed by Commissioner General of Elections, Saman Sri Rathnayake to that effect.

The AJBP secured one national list seat in the August 2020 General Election, having conducted its election campaign to send Ven. Galagodaatte Gnanasara to Parliament.

However, that seat remained vacant for months following the disappearance of AJBP secretary, Ven. Vedinigama Wimalatissa Thera.
