Ranil calls for new set of rules to rein in unruly MPs
UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe told Parliament yesterday that a new set of rules with strict guidelines based on the Code of Conduct for MPs was needed to ensure that parliamentarians behaved in the House maintaining its dignity.
The UNP leader said that almost all agreed that the standard of parliament should be upheld.
The government did not table some important documents. The Finance Ministry and the Central Bank should provide Parliament with their latest reports so that the MPs would have a better understanding of the economic and financial situation. The Opposition had been compelled to before courts to obtain a copy of the agreement signed by the government with the New Fortress Energy, the former Prime Minister said.
