Ranil and Akila to make statements to police on Easter Sunday carnage

Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is expected to make a statement, today, to the police unit attached to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) investigating the Easter Sunday attacks.

Wickremesinghe was initially asked to appear before the police unit on August 21 along with former Law and Order and Southern Development, Sagala Ratnayake, but he informed the PCoI that he would not be able to appear on that day.

UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam too is expected to appear before the Police Unit today.

On September 02, former MP Ashu Marasinghe and former Law and Order Minister Ranjith Maddumabandara are also scheduled to make statements.

Former Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Leader of the Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal Party Sivanesathuri Chandrakanthan alias “Pillayan” are expected to arrive at the police unit on September 03.

Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has been summoned to appear before the police unit on September 07, while State Minister Dilum Amunugama is to make a statement on September 08.
