We have had lots of special events, programmes, and special items, connected with our 73rd Independence Day.

Radio Suno Lanka, the Sri Lankan radio channel, operating  under the OliveSuno radio network, which is the largest radio network in Qatar, made their contribution, as well, towards the celebrations.

The Sri Lankan team went into action and came up with the song ‘Nidahase Sawoma’ which can be picked up on YouTube – https://youtu.be/XWSsBEq9iJA.

The vocals were handled by Ishani Sandanayake, Vidhu Thalwattegedara, Rubeena Shabnam, Yatheeshkar Sivanesham and Priyadarshini Mataarchchi.

Others who did the needful in creating ‘Nidahase Sawoma,’ and the video, are Vishnu C. Divakaran (melody, music, mixing and mastering, Easa Muhzin (camera and editing), Nethumi Anjana Sandanayake (traditional dance), Rusandie Lawrence (dance choreography), Yashodharan Rajaram (camera assistant) and Rubeena Shabnam and Vidhu Thalwattegedara (video concept).

This patriotic song, they say, was released to send out an important message to all Sri Lankans, living in Qatar, and around the world, that despite where we live, as Sri Lankans we always adore our Motherland, specially when one is a away from home.

Radio Suno Lanka has online radio shows, in Sinhala and Tamil, all seven days of the week, with the spotlight on entertainment and information – important to the Sri Lankan community, in Qatar.

The station also does roadshows, with clients, on digital platforms, in a very attractive and effective way to promote services and products of the clients.

Radio Suno Lanka Kids Circle is another initiative of the team to appreciate, encourage and showcase various talents of the young generation, in the community.

The team is also very passionate about presenting cultural events to promote the authentic Sri Lankan traditions, and customs, among the community.

Being an info/entertainment channel, Radio Suno Lanka brings timely updates of various news, via online and digital platforms.

I’m also told that within a short period the team has conducted media coverages on various local events, covering cultural, sports and many more.

The Radio Suno Lanka team is made up of Santosh Palee (station head), Ishani Sandanayake (head of programmes), Rubeena Shabnam, Yatheeshkar Sivanesan and Priyadarshini Matarachchi (radio jockeys), and Vidhu Thalwattegedera (music composer).
