Pulindu Perera top scored with 155 runs

Dharmaraja College batsman Pulindu Perera hogged the limelight with a match-deciding knock of 155 runs as Sri Lanka Under 19s registered a 51 runs victory over their West Indies counterparts to win the three-match Youth ODI series 2-1 at Dambulla yesterday.

Chasing a target of 305 runs to win the visitors had their top order putting up a strong platform but bowlers led by left-arm spinner Vishwa Lahiru did well to contain the strong batting line up to 253 runs.

Deciding to bat first, Sri Lanka Under 19s were anchored by Pulindu who scored a stroke-filled century. He had the support of Vishen Helambage and Ravishan Nethsara earlier in the innings but the most productive partnership was the eighth wicket stand he put on with Vihas Thewmika.

Sri Lanka from being seven wickets down for 199 runs managed to top 300 runs thanks largely to the stand of 80 runs between the eighth wicket pair.

Pulindu scored 155 runs in 140 balls. His knock included 17 fours and four sixes.
