PUCSL says no need for power cuts till beginning of next month
By Ifham Nizam
The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), the electricity sector regulator, yesterday decided that there was no need for any power cuts from 27 to 31 January. PUCSL did not approve the proposal made by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) for load shedding.
Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission Janaka Ratnayake said:
“We review the power plants and the fuel stocks they need, on a daily basis. Based on the results of those reviews we decide whether to approve power cuts. The PUCSL has also taken steps to develop a system for the efficient use of power generators owned by state and private institutions as a solution to the power crisis.
