Public Security Minister assures protection for large number of female victims of blackmail

Public Security Minister retired Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekera yesterday (17) said that a large number of girls and women had been blackmailed but the victims were reluctant to complain to the police.

Addressing the media at the Public Security Ministry, Battaramulla, Minister Weerasekera urged the victims to seek the assistance of the police. The one-time Navy Chief of Staff assured them protection.

The Minister said law enforcement authorities would conduct investigations expeditiously in respect of those cases. (SF)
