Public employees called back to work from 03 January

The Ministry of Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government has decided that all public sector employees should be physically present in their workplaces from 03 January, 2022.

The Ministry of Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government said the relevant circular would be issued soon.

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, earlier the Heads of institutions were given authority to decide the manner in which state sector workers should be summoned to office.

In a circular, Secretary to the Ministry J.J. Rathnasiri said it is the responsibility of public employees to rebuild the socio-economic progress that was delayed by the Covid-19 epidemic in the two years 2020-2021 and to build a strong country by 2022.

Accordingly, the Secretary directed all public employees to launch the necessary operations in their workplaces on Monday, 03 January , the first day of duty in the new year.
