Gurukula College, Kelaniya paceman Tharusha Kodikara is the leading wicket taker of the Inter School Under 17 Division I Cricket tournament which was abruptly halted last week for Sri Lanka Cricket to conduct the Inter Provincial Under 17 tournament.

Kodikara had a rich haul of over 20 wickets in six matches from the schools tournament when he was selected for the Colombo North team to compete in the Inter Provincial tournament. In his first outing in the SLC tournament he had just a solitary wicket. But yesterday when Colombo North met Colombo South, Kodikara produced a five wicket haul to rattle the latter for 79 runs.  Kodikara’s five wicket haul is now the best bowling performance in the ongoing tournament.

Mahanama College all rounder Koojana Perera who starred in Colombo North’s first win had his work cut short as Kodikara and Garuka Sanketh shared eight wickets between them to rattle the batting line up. In his only over bowled Perera took one wicket. Colombo North needed just 16 overs to reach the target. In the other match played at Dambulla, Galle registered a 92 runs victory over Dambulla with Dinura Kalupahana producing good all-round performances.
