Programs implemented to develop rural infrastructure – Nimal Lanza
Nimal Lanza, State Minister for Rural Roads and Other Infrastructure stated that the government has given priority this year to the development of rural infrastructure as well as the upliftment of the economy of the rural people.
State Minister, Nimal Lanza expressed these views while participating in the inauguration of the road programs in the Katana electorate on 27.
The carpeting of the Adiambalama-Kimbulapitiya road and the Muruthana-Bambukuliya road in the Katana electorate has commenced under the national program to develop 100,000 km, implementing the ‘Vision of Prosperity’ policy of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. The distance is 5.4 km and the estimated cost is Rs. 142 million. The contract is supervised by the Provincial Road Development Authority.
The Adiambalama and Kimbulapitiya roads can be used as part of an alternative route to avoid traffic congestion in the Kochchikade area. This road has been in a state of disrepair for a long time and the development of this road will facilitate the movement of a large number of people.
Speaking further State Minister, Nimal Lansa said,
‘In many countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, and France, some areas are still closed due to the effects of the corona epidemic. But our country has the opportunity to open up because of its successful control of the corona epidemic and vaccination. People are giving priority to health care practices and are now carrying out their daily activities including business and employment activities. Now is the time to open all schools under health guidelines. The government aims to vaccinate all those in need within the next three to four months. “
Chairman of the Katana Pradeshiya Sabha Nanda Wijeratne and members of the Katana Pradeshiya Sabha were also present on the occasion.
