Prof. Monte Cassim appointed Chancellor of Moratuwa Uni
President Ranil Wickremesinghe last week appointed Prof. Monte Cassim as the Chancellor of the University of Moratuwa, the President’s Media Division reported. The appointment has been made in accordance with the provisions of Section 32 of the University Act No 16 of 1978, as amended by Act No 07 of 1985, and is effective immediately and is set for a tenure of five years, the PMD said.
Prof. Cassim is the Vice-Chancellor of the Ritsumeikan Trust and from April 2004 until January 2010 served as the President of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Beppu, Japan where he remains Professor.
Prof. Monte Cassim, known for his distinguished contributions to the field of Science, Technology and innovation fields, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role. His appointment is expected to enhance the university’s commitment to academic innovation, research, and the overall development of students.
