“President’s Energy Directives ignored by Power Ministry”

I have read with great interest the informative professional letters by Eng. Dr.Janaka Ratnasiri, but was shocked and dismayed to read the above captioned letter; crossing the ‘Red Line’, so to say, bordering on lunacy or insanity, due to his over enthusiasm in his pet professional subject – Electricity; where, in his concluding para he requests that the Chairman of the CEB, be replaced by an Army Officer with an Electrical Engineering background, and the most damning statement to remove the Minister.

This is due to the President having directed 70% RE but PUCSL had pruned it down to 50%. It is my view that the directive of the President would have been without a study, [ plucked from the air], without knowing the resources and capability of the CEB; but PUCSL being a professional body had pruned it down to 50% after careful study and as an achievable target.

This slander, should not be considered as one only against the Minister and Chairman of the CEB, but includes the Secretary to the Ministry and his/her staff and Engineers of the CEB, especially in the Generation Planning Branch, and also PUCSL. Hence they should respond and make the public aware. Otherwise, they stand guilty.
