Presidential election will be held: PMD

The next presidential election will be held on schedule, the President’s Media Division (PMD) has said in a statement.

The PMD has said that the general election will be held in 2025 and that necessary funding will be allocated from the 2025 Budget.

The Election Commission is responsible for holding elections and the government will be communicating with the Commission as and when required, the PMD has said.

Last week, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a proposal to allocate 10 billion for elections to be held in 2024, according to the Government Information Department

According to the Constitution the presidential elections should be held before 17 October 2024.
