President reiterates Lanka’s firm commitment to one China policy

President Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday stressed Sri Lanka’s firm commitment to the one-China policy as well as the provisions of the UN Charter on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations.

President Wickremesinghe observed that countries must refrain from provocations which further escalated the current global tensions. He pointed out that mutual respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of countries were important foundations for peaceful cooperation and non-confrontation.

The President made this statement when Ambassador of China Qi Zhenghong called on President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential Secretariat.The Chinese Ambassador extended his best wishes to President Wickremesinghe and discussed the manner in which the bilateral relations could be further strengthened.
