The Buddhist Advisory Council, on Thursday night, commended the President for initiating measures for the formulation of a national education policy, a mechanism to protect national heritage and steps taken to formulate a Constitution, which will change the path of the country, amidst many obstacles including those posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The President’s Media Unit has said, in a statement, that the Buddhist Advisory Council commended President Rajapaksa for his unwavering commitment to establishing national policies despite obstacles and challenges this year.

“The majority of the people of the country expected a leader who makes decisions based on national ideology. The Buddhist Advisory Council met at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday (24) for the 7th time.

The Maha Sangha said that the President had taken steps to establish religious harmony and that it was important to establish a Committee comprising all religious leaders to further promote inter religious harmony.
