President meets Asian Games Gold Medalist Tharushi Karunaratne

Asian Games women’s 800 meter Gold Medalist Tharushi Karunaratne, was granted the honour of an audience with President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential Palace in Kandy this morning (05).

Tharushi’s visit to the President’s house coincided with the formal presentation of credentials to ten newly appointed ambassadors to Sri Lanka and President Wickremesinghe took the opportunity to introduce  her  to them, solidifying the international recognition of her remarkable achievement.

Tharushi was accompanied by the principal, athletics coach, teachers in charge of sports and 76 student athletes of Walala A Rathnayake Central College which is also the sports school of the Kandy district.
