President Ranil Wickremesinghe visited the historic Kataragama shrine on Monday (03) the final day of the annual Kataragama Esala Maha Perahara. He had the honour of placing the casket on the ceremonial elephant, Kandula, symbolizing the commencement of the Perahara.
