Prasanna says govt. needs BR

Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga says the government needs SLPP strategist Basil Rajapaksa’s organisational strength. The Gampaha District SLPP organiser said so after Basil Rajapaksa’s return yesterday (24) from the US.

Minister Ranatunga paid a glowing  tribute to Basil Rajapaksa for his invaluable role in the UPFA since 2005 and the formation of the SLPP following the 2015 defeat suffered by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Speculation is rife in political circles that an SLPP National List MP may quit early next month to pave the way for Basil Rajapaksa to re-enter parliament. (SF)
