Power cut duration won’t be extended – CEB
‘N’cholai repairs nearing completion’
By Ifham Nizam
No decision had been taken to increase the duration of load shedding, a senior electrical engineer of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said yesterday.
The CEB Management Board yesterday denied social media claims that power cut would be extended to 10 hours.
CEB Chairman M.M.C Ferdinando, Deputy Chairman Nalinda Illangakoon and General Manager Dr. Rohantha Abeysekera told journalists that power cuts were expected to be reduced to less than three hours, and would not be extended. Repairs to the Norochcholai power plant would be completed soon, he said. Meanwhile, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera on Saturday said that the messages circulating on social media regarding a price increase in Lanka Indian Oil Company (IOC) fuel was completely false. He said he had also instructed ministry officials to take legal action against those who had posted and shared fake and false news to mislead the public.
