Postmortem confirms death due to gunshot injury

Wildlife officers on Friday (17) confirmed the elephant that was found dead near a tank in Nochchikulama, Omanthai had died due to gunshot injuries. Wildlife officials and policemen attached to the Omanthai station are investigating the incident.

This is the eighth elephant death reported from the Northern Wildlife Zone this year.
