Police used about 50,000 litres of water to hold back protesters on July 09

Police had used around 50,000 litres of water against protesters, demanding the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on 09 July, a senior police officer told The Island.Police said that the water had been obtained from the Maligawatta Branch of the water Board.The Police had paid for water, he said, adding that eight riot control vehicles had been damaged during the protests.The Police officer added that during the 09 July protests, a number of riot control vehicles had run out of water and they had been taken over by the protesters.
