Police investigating the death of 16-year-old Ishalini, a domestic worker at SJB MP Rishad Bathiudeen’s Baudhaloka Mawatha residence, will question an officer attached to the former Minister’s security unit.
Police identified the officer as a person attached to the Ministerial Security Division (MSD). Sources said that the officer concerned had assured Rishad Bathiudeen’s family that the police could settle the issue.
SSP Nuwara-Eliya B. Udugamsuriya told The Island that the police had been deployed at the cemetery at Dayagama (West) where Ishalini was buried, after Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasinghe ordered the exhumation of the body of the victim for a fresh postmortem.
