Police recover 10 mn ring stolen from Sirisena’s brother

A private security guard-cum-driver of former President Maithripala Sirisena’s brother Chaminda has been arrested over the theft of a diamond studded ring.

Police have recovered the ring worth Rs 10 mn sold to a jewellery shop in Beliatta. However, police haven’t been able to recover USD 5,000 and Rs 100,000 stolen from Chaminda Sirisena’s Polonnaruwa residence.

Chaminda Sirisena told The Island that the suspect had suddenly disappeared.
