Police investigate gang in Jaffna that sexually abuse schoolboys while videoing such acts to sell

Jaffna Police have launched an investigation to arrest an organized group, involved in sexually abusing schoolchildren, recording the acts, and selling the footage. Police claim that this group targets particularly boys.The gang targets boys from the villages, around Jaffna, who come to the town for education, police say.

The victims are lured by promising cash payments and videos recorded by this group is popular among certain groups of pedophiles, police said.A few years ago, during the trial of the murder of schoolgirl Sivaloganathan Vidya, it was revealed that the perpetrators had initially wanted to record her being assaulted, to sell abroad. Nine suspects stand accused of the murder. Sivaloganathan Vidya was abducted, gang raped and murdered, in Kayts, in 2015.
