Police crackdown on those not wearing masks in public

By Norman Palihawadane
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said yesterday that a special operation had been launched to nab people moving around in public without face masks.
DIG Rohana said that people were still moving around without face masks totally disregarding health regulations.
The DIG said that legal action would be taken against individuals caught in public without face masks. Those found without a face mask in public places first would be subjected to PCR or Rapid Antigen tests, he said.
The decision had been taken since health authorities worldwide had established that notwearing face masks would result in the rapid spread of the coronavirus.
The police spokesman urged the public to wear a face mark when leaving home without fail.
