Police arrest three with narcotics in Maligawatte

Maligawatta Police on Friday (10) arrested three suspects with drugs worth Rs. 80 million.The suspects were involved in the distribution of Kerala ganja, hashish and heroin, police said.The suspects were arrested at Kotahena and Wattala, on a tip off.

Police also confiscated 125 kilos of Kerala ganja, a kilo of heroin, and 1.75 kilos of hashish.

The suspects have brought the drugs from India, via boat, to Kalpitiya and distribute the drugs in Horana, Maligawatta, Peliyagoda, Borella, Panadura and Wattala, police said.The suspects had been previously arrested by the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB).

SIs M.G.G. Pathirana and M.H.S. Namal, police sergeants Rupasinghe (45648), Kumara (49744), PCs Senadeera (89169), Hashan (100495), Abeyratna (104366), Jayaratna (97304), Fernando (103291), Perera (104590) and Herath (103786), and police driver Amaradiwakara (58988), took part in the operation, under the instructions of CI Batiya Jayatissa, OIC of Maligawatta Police.
