Point Pedro Hospital’s condom dispenser stolen, police investigation underway

Doctors at Jaffna’s Point Pedro Hospital reported to the police that a condom dispenser, containing 600 condoms, was stolen from the hospital on Wednesday (20).
Police said that the dispenser had been installed at Point Pedro Hospital on December 15 as part of programmes commemorating World AIDS Day. Its purpose was to distribute condoms freely as a measure for AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) prevention.
According to the doctors, similar dispensers had been installed in every hospital across the district, following a directive from Jaffna Teaching Hospital authorities. This initiative aimed to curb the spread of AIDS and STDs.The Point Pedro police have initiated investigations into the matter.
