PNF decries re-appointment of ministers, wants Prez as nominal head of 15-member Interim Cabinet

The Professionals’ National Front (PNF) Chief Secretary Kapila Renuka Perera has requested the appointment of a 15-member Cabinet, comprising professionals, as an interim measure to save the country.

Perera, who has moved the Supreme Court against the current dispensation for having more than 30 ministers, in violation of the Constitution, said that of the 17 SLPP National List members, 15 should resign to accommodate the newcomers. The PNF spokesperson decried the re-appointment of Dinesh Gunawardena, Prof. G.L. Peiris, Johnston Fernando and Ali Sabry, PC as cabinet Ministers. Perera emphasised that reshuffling of the same lot wouldn’t make any difference. The PNF official said that President Rajapaksa could continue as the nominal head of the Cabinet (SF)
