PM warns of children increasingly becoming addicted to electronic devices
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Thursday warned parents that children studying online had become addicted to electronic devices, especially smartphones. Addressing students and staff of Maliyadewa Balika Vidyalaya, Kurunegala, the Premier said that many medical experts had warned about the dangers of digital addiction.
“Technology is a great tool. However, you will be in trouble if you misuse it. Parents and teachers must look out for signs of digital addiction among children,” he said.
PM Rajapaksa added that Kurunegala had the highest number of schools in any district, including 30 national schools.
“We are allocating more funds for education. We have also taken steps to resolve the longstanding salary anomalies of teachers and principals he said.
