PM to preside over ‘Namal Uyana’ celebration at Temple Trees today

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena will preside over a celebration at 3pm today (30) at Temple Trees to mark the 33rd anniversary of introducing Jathika Namal Uyana and the largest pink quartz mountain to the nation.

Realizing the importance of preserving this national treasure for future generations, Ven Wanawasi Rahula Thera shouldered the painstaking endeavor for the last 33 years and still continuing to do so. Amidst so many difficulties and hardships along the path to preservation the thera somehow managed to achieve his dream. The print and electronic media gave an immense support to this endeavour.

Ven Wanawasi Rahula Thera, following Lord Buddha’s teachings, has decided to offer his respect and gratitude to the media personalities who have given unconditional support to achieve this great effort. Honouring the print and electronic media will also take place during the anniversary celebration.
