PLOTE tells TNA govt. will not fall despite intra-party disputes
By Dinasena Ratugamage
The current administration couldn’t be defeated easily despite the many disputes among constituent parties of the government, PLOTE leader, Dharmalingam Siddarthan said on Monday. The TNA, therefore, should take all coming elections very seriously, he added.
Addressing the media in Vavuniya, the PLOTE leader said that the disputes among the constituents of the current administration would not be so severe as to topple the government, and Tamil politicians should keep that in mind.
“It is obvious that there are many problems in the government and this happens when there are many constituent parties. There is a belief among the people and some politicians that the government will collapse because of these issues. But that will not happen. Although there are many parties in the government, most of them have no political future if they leave the SLPP. So, they will never leave the government,” Siddarthan opined.
The PLOTE leader said that it was something that Tamil political parties should also come to terms with. The Tamil political parties should unite if they were serious about solving the issues faced by the Tamil people, he said. “We must be united. Also unlike in the past, the voters won’t stick to one party.”
Given these developments, Siddarthan observed that all future elections were crucial for the TNA and that winning them was vital to helping the Tamil people.
“We must unite the people.”
If we contribute to divisions within the polity, it will lead to devastating outcomes.”
