Piliyandala Central stun S. Thomas’, Rashmika, Thathsara shine with five-wicket hauls

Mihin Lakdinu produced notable all-round performances as Piliyandala Central stunned S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia with a four-wicket win to commence their Under 17 Division I cricket campaign in style on Monday.
While Sandalu Rashmika excelled with a five wicket haul for just a solitary run for Sri Devananda, Thathsara Samindu, who also took five wickets was the bowling hero for St. Joseph Vaz’s College as they registered opening victories in their respective first round matches yesterday.
S. Thomas’ could muster only 108 runs at Piliyandala yesterday after Adeepa Sasmitha and Mihin Lakdinu troubled them taking four wickets each. In their essay the home team reached the target in the 23rd over.
At Ambalangoda, Vidyaloka College were shot out for meager 43 runs as Sandalu Rashmika took five wickets for just one run to give Sri Devananda an ideal start to the tournament.
At Chilaw, St. Joseph Vaz’s cruised to 67 runs win over St. Mary’s as Thathsara Samindu excelled taking five wickets to skittle out the home team for 131 runs.
