Piliyandala Central savour Big Match win

Left-arm spinner Thineth Salinga and skipper Ashen Rodrigo produced outstanding performances to help Piliyandala Central record victories against arch rivals Taxila Central in their two-day and limited overs Big Matches played recently.Spinner Salinga produced a match bag of eleven wickets to lead Piliyandala Central to 53 runs victory in the two-day Big Match.

Piliyandala Central posed 128 runs and 111 runs in their two innings. While Rodrigo (30) and Sonath Enuka (32) were the top scorers in the first innings, Sethika Dilmith missed a half century by just one run in the second essay.Taxila were rattled for 66 runs in the first innings as Salinga picked up six wickets. In their second essay Randev Senavirathna top scored for Taxila but that was not enough to prevent Piliyandala Central from recording an outright victory as others failed to impress. Salinga picked up five wickets in the second essay. Rodrigo had a match bag of five wickets.

For Taxila Rashan Nawanjana stood out with a match bag of eleven wickets.The match was played at Dombagoda on June 10 and 11.The Limited Overs Big Match which was played at the same venue on June 12 saw skipper Rodrigo taking honours in both the batting and bowling departments as Piliyandala Central cruised to seven wickets victory.

They chased a target of 124 runs in 30 overs. Rodrigo and medium paceman Ramodya Ravishka shared seven wickets between them to restrict Taxila to 123 runs before playing key roles in the batting department in their chase.
