The much waited decider of the inter-school Fifteen-a-side Under 19 league rugby tournament will take place on Saturday at Bambalapitiya when St. Peter’s take on Isipatana. The Peterites are virtually sure of walking away with the league tournament Trophy if they come out winners, but in the case Isipatana win then the tournament organizers will have to pull out their calculators and engross themselves in a mathematical calculation as to find out which team has scored more tries and bonus points. In the other match scheduled for Saturday St.Anthony’s lock horns with Royal at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy. The outcome of this match is only of academic interest because neither team carries any chance of winning the league title due to the many defeats suffered this season.

In the match scheduled at Bambalapitiya, the Peterite playmaker as of now Sudesh Jayawickreme is likely to be the player to make a go at the Isipatana players given that he is in fine form. He scored a peach of a try in the last outing which was spiced with power, speed, and aggression. The other players in the side to watch out for are skipper Ashaen Madugasge, Dinith Ranasinghe, Pasindu Bandara, Praneeth Silva, Vindya de Mel, and Tharindu Kushan.

On the other hand, the Green Shirts are under pressure to win this game given that they lie second in the points table and also carry a chance of winning the trophy if they win on Saturday. The lads from Havelock Town have the players to pull off a memorable win in the likes of skipper Nuwan Kanishka, Rinesh Silva, Shahindu de Costa, Nisaja Jayaweera, H.Randimal, Kalindu Silva and their playmaker Shahid Zumri. All of them have reached the peak of perfection as schoolboy rugby players as of now. Isipatana’s only defeat came this season at the hands of Royal a week ago.
