Person in possession of commercial explosives nabbed in Trincomalee

In a special search operation carried out jointly by the Navy and the  Police near the Trincomalee bus station on Thursday (23) led to the apprehension of a person  carrying ten (10) water gel sticks (a type of commercial explosive) and fifteen (15) non-electric detonators

The use of explosives such as ‘Water Gel’ for fishing poses a serious threat to marine life and can cause long-lasting damage to the marine ecosystems.
