Peradeniya Science alumni empowers rural education

The 1978 batch science alumni of the Peradeniya University empowered a rural school at Kanaththewewa, Wariyapola on Feb. 9 by completing a Rs. 1.2 million project donating a fully equipped computer lab to the village school.

A news release issued in this connection said that what was accomplished was not merely providing the required computer hardware and software to the new laboratory but empowering the children attending the rural school with resources necessary to succeed in the digital age.

“The donation provides access to modern educational resources which will open many opportunities for them in the future,” the release said. ” It was a moment of thoughtful significance for both the donors and the recipients.”
