The Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) investigating the Easter Sunday attacks will announce today whether it will record evidence from Abdul Cader Fatima Hadiya, widow of National Thowheed Jamaat (NTJ) Leader Zahran Hashim, who led the suicide bombing campaign on Easter Sunday 2019, that killed more than 260 persons and injured about 500 others.

Officers attached to the CID unit of the Commission, yesterday (22) brought Hadiya to the PCoI, but they did not record evidence from her.

Senior Additional Solicitor General Sarath Jayamanne and a few other representatives from the Attorney General’s (AG) Department arrived at the PCoI, to discuss whether to record Hadiya’s evidence.

According to sources, the AG’s department officials pointed out that recording evidence from Hadiya before the Commission could affect the court cases against her.
