Parliament sits today: Entire day allocated for Q&E

Debate Easter Sunday PCoI report to be discussed on 07 April

Parliament sittings will commence today (05) at 10.00 a.m and the entire day has been allotted for Questions for Oral Answers by MPs.

The Secretary General of Parliament, Dhammika Dasanayake said this decision had been taken at the Committee on Parliamentary Business. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Leader of the House Dinesh Gunawardena had requested that MPs should be given an opportunity to ask 50 questions for oral answers.

A motion for the appointment of a Parliament Select Committee on reforming the election laws and the electoral system is also scheduled to be moved in Parliament today, he said.

On 06 April, three regulations under the Imports and Exports (Control) Act, two orders under the Strategic Development Projects Act, a resolution for the revision of salary and allowances of the Director-General of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption will be debated.

The Secretary General of Parliament said that the Committee on Parliamentary Business has also decided to discuss on April 7, the final report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on the Easter Sunday attacks on 07 April.

In addition, it was decided to debate the “Report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry on Political Victimization” on 08 and the 09 of April
