Parliament meets tomorrow; No consensus on Cabinet appointments

Parliament is scheduled to meet again tomorrow. It last met on 13 Dec., 2022.

Alhough a section of the government indicated that President Ranil Wickremesinghe would expand the Cabinet to accommodate 12 more, a consensus couldn’t be reached with the ruling Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) on the nominees.

Sources said that during the committee stage of 2023 budget, they believed cabinet portfolios could be finalized immediately after the parliament approved the budget on Dec 08.
