Parakrama powers Air Force to five-wicket win
A captain’s knock of 169 by Udayawansha Parakrama helped Air Force register a five-wicket win over Moors SC in the ongoing three-day Major Club Emerging tournament match played at Katunayaka.
With this win, Air Force have registered two wins in four outings and are placed third in the points table.
Invited to bat first Moors were restricted to 150 in their first essay by Movin Subasinghe (4/26) and Nadeera Ishan (3/39). In reply Air Force powered by Parakrama’s 169 posted a first innings score of 318. Ayana Siriwardena was rewarded with a five-wicket haul.
A century by skipper Dinuka Dishan and half tons by Sohan de Livera and Janishka Perera helped Moors declare their second essay at a respectable 318 for eight wickets. Movin Subasinghe and Nimesha Mendis shared seven wickets between them.
Given a target of 172 to win off 47 overs, Air Force anchored by Kemira Wijenayake (82 runs) were able to reach it in 44.1 overs with five wickets in hand.
