Pannala National School meet Maris Stella, Thimbirigaskatuwa today

Under 19 Division III Tier ‘B’ Cricket

Pannala National School skippered by M. M. A. D. Munasinghe will encounter Maris Stella College, Thimbirigaskatuwa captained by Dinuka Silva in the Inter School Under 19 Division III Tier ‘B’ final at Nalanda College ground, Campbell Place today.

Pannala National School produced some outstanding performances during the knockout stage. They will expect their heroes in the semi-final, namely Lakshitha Gamage, Akila Suraj, Themiya Kumarasinghe and Pubudu Geethanjana to join the rest to challenge Maris Stella.

In their half of the tournament Maris Stella were the dominant force. Vinila Perera, Kanishka Gamage and skipper Dinuka Silva reduced Hindu College to just 54 runs and Senuk Dinwara scored an unbeaten 42 for them to reach the target in just six overs.

Maris Stella edged out S. Thomas’ College, Guruthalawa, Wadduwa Central, President’s College, Mahara and Hindu College, Matale in the knockout stage to book their final berth.

Champions in their group in the first round, Maris Stella beat Taxila College, Gampaha, Chandrajothi MV, Yakkala, Batuwatte MV, Ragama, York International School, Yakkala and Basilica College, Ragama during the first round.

Pannala National School too were the champions in their group in the first round. They beat Saranath Maha Vidyalaya, Kuliyapitiya, Sri Parakrama MV, Kobeigane, Sri Sumangala Central, Wariyapola and Sri Saranankara Central, Bingiriya during first round fixtures.

During the knockout stage, the boys from Pannala beat Jinaraja Boys’ School, Gampola and All Saints College, Galle D.S. Senanayake National School, Ampara and Sri Sumangala MV, Kelaniya on their way to the final.
