Panditharatne bags two awards as HNB win MCA ‘F’ Division title

Half centuries by Dinesh Panditharatne (52 in 56 balls, inclusive of three sixes and two fours) and Chamindu Wijesinghe (50 not out in 43 balls, inclusive of a six and four fours) steered, HNB ‘B’ to a comfortable seven wickets win over Dialog Axiata, in the MCA ‘F’ division 25 over League Tournament 2024 final at the MCA Grounds.

Dialog Axiata, batting first were restricted to 142 for nine in 25 overs by the HNB ‘B’ bowlers, Mohamed Ikram, Dineth Panditharatne and Supun Akalanka. Dialog were rescued by Sanjana Silva, who scored a fighting 55 runs in 39 balls, inclusive of four sixes and two fours.

HNB ‘B’ reached their target in 20.1 overs (143 for 3)

MCA Match Referee, Sena Nandiweera adjudged Dinesh Panditharatne from HNB as his Man of the Match.

The other three special awards, based on performances up to the semi-finals, went to Dilan Harshana Bandara from Dialog Axiata (Best Batsman), Achintha Supun Akalanka from HNB (Best Bowler) and Dinesh Panditharatne from HNB (Man of the Series).

Awards were given away by the Chief Guest, Sandeep Gopal, Chief Executive Officer, Guest of Honour, Sanjay Siriwardena Chief Sales Officer (both from Fairfirst Insurance Ltd), President Mahesh de Alwis and Chairman Tournament Committee, Lakmal de Silva (both from MCA).
