Pakistan High Commissioner underlines importance of relations with SL

The Pakistan High Commission hosted a National Day Reception which was attended by a large number of participants including Sri Lankan political leaders, Diplomatic Corps, Senior Defense Officials, Government Representative, Prominent Business personalities and Pakistani Diaspora.

Pakistan High Commissioner Umar Farooq Burki HI (M) in his message on the occasion said that Pakistan and Sri Lanka continue to maintain their traditionally close and mutually beneficial relations, based on mutual respect and trust. He said that the strength of the Pakistan – Sri Lanka relationship lies in diversified engagement in many fields such as trade, defense, science, culture and education.

The High Commissioner also extended sincere greetings and best wishes on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan to the government and people of Sri Lanka.

The High Commissioner thanked Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister for agriculture, who was the chief guest for the event, and other dignitaries for being a part of this memorable event for Pakistan. The High commissioner also highlighted that this year is special for both Pakistan and Sri Lanka as the two countries are celebrating 75 years of their friendship.

A cultural exhibition was also arranged on the side lines of the national day reception. Traditional handicrafts, truck art, dresses etc. were displayed during the exhibition, which was highly praised by all the guests.
