Paddy cultivations under caterpillar attack
By Ifham Nizam
The Department of Agriculture yesterday instructed farmers to follow Agriculture Officers’ instructions strictly since the paddy cultivation has been damaged by several species of Spodoptera worms in several areas.
Caterpillars are damaging the crops in several areas such as Anamaduwa and Dimbulagala areas.
Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera yesterday instructed the Director General of Agriculture to take necessary action to control the disease.
Accordingly, the Batalagoda Research Institute has sent a team of experts to Anamaduwa and Dimbulagala yesterday (30) to conduct tests.
Information about the insecticides and other disease control methods can be obtained from the Agriculture Officer in charge of the area.
