Pacemen shared major honour in the first two innings on day one of the Under 19 traditional cricket encounter between S. Thomas’ and Prince of Wales at Mount Lavinia on Friday.

Batting for the second time, the Thomians were 69 for four wickets at stumps with a lead of 98 runs as 24 wickets fell on day one.

While left-arm paceman Rasindu Fernando did most of the damage for Cambrians taking five wickets to restrict the home team to 109 runs, Kavindu Dias troubled Prince of Wales taking three early wickets before completing a four wicket haul. Pacemen Dias and Nathan Caldera shared seven wickets between them for the home team to bounce back and restrict Prince of Wales to 80 runs.

It is the second match of the season for Cambrians, who commenced the season last week. The team captained by fourth year coloursman Achala Perera were hoping to bounce back from a defeat at the hands of Wesley in their first match.

The Thomians are captained by fourth year-coloursman Mahith Perera this season and are set to enjoy the pace friendly conditions at home.
