Overall better results at A/L examination this year compared to previous

The results of this year’s GCE AL examination on average are better than the exam results last year, says Commissioner General of Examinations Amith Jayasundara told The Island.
Altogether 331,709 students had applied for the examination and 263,933 of them had sat the exam, he said.
Out of those who sat the exam 63.3% were eligible for university admission, he said.
The release of results of 84 candidates had been suspended for various reasons, he added. Students can apply for rescrutiny of answer scripts between 07 and 16 September, Jayasundara said.
Pramodhi Bhashani Munasinghe of Sujatha Vidyalaya, Matara obtained the first place in the Biological Science stream. Maneth Banula Perera of Royal College, Colombo came first in the Physical Science stream. Kavidini Dilsarani Tharushika of Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Colombo came on top in the Commerce stream, while Samuditha Nayanapriya of Richmond College, Galle topped the Engineering Technology stream.
