Oval Test: Play on Day 2 suspended following Queen’s death
Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the ECB announced that Day 2 of the third Test between England and South Africa on Friday (September 9) has been suspended.
“Following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Friday’s play between England and South Africa Men at The Oval, along with all scheduled matches in the Rachel Heyhoe Flint Trophy, will not take place,” the ECB said in a statement.
“For fixtures beyond Friday, updates will be provided in due course,” the statement added. Day 1 of The Oval Test was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain. England had won the toss and opted to field. The series is currently level at 1-1.
