Opposition calls for immediate reappointment of ex-Chairmen, members to watchdog committees
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa on Thursday called for the immediate reappointment of former Chairmen and members to parliamentary watchdog committees, which ceased to function after the President prorogued Parliament in December 2021.
Premadasa requested that those parliamentary watchdogs recommence the investigations they were handling before the prorogation of the house.
The Opposition Leader said that Sri Lanka had fallen prey to geopolitical power struggles and the motherland had become a playground for a geopolitical tussles.
Premadasa slammed the government for selling off national assets to foreign nationals and then begging across the world for US dollars, and questioned the house if asking for dollars was the so-called pride of the government.
